A Uni ed Approach for Hierarchical Adaptive Tesselation of Surfaces

چکیده
The polygonization, or tesselation, of surfaces is a classical problem that has many practical applications in computer graphics and geometric modeling. The problem consists in computing a piecewise linear approximation for a smooth surface described either by parametric or implicit functions. A polygonal mesh is the one of the simplest forms of surface description and therefore is the representation of choice in the implementation of a large number of algorithms. Moreover, existing graphics systems (e.g., OpenGL) have special support for polygonal primitives, specially for triangular meshes. Thus, despite the existence of more sophisticated forms for surface description (e.g., B ezier, B-splines, NURBS, etc.), there is always a need to represent surfaces in polygonal form.

Trajectory tracking of under-actuated nonlinear dynamic robots: Adaptive fuzzy hierarchical terminal sliding-mode control
In recent years, underactuated nonlinear dynamic systems trajectory tracking, such as space robots and manipulators with structural flexibility, has become a major field of interest due to the complexity and high computational load of these systems. Hierarchical sliding mode control has been investigated recently for these systems; however, the instability phenomena will possibly occur, especia...
متن کاملInteractive Rendering of Catmull/Clark Surfaces with Crease Edges TUBSCG-2001-01
A scheme for delayed tesselation of Catmull/Clark surfaces is described, where only changes of the control mesh and changes in visibility create workload. Tesselation is performed on demand and is typically spread over a number of frames, so that the number of perceivable frame rate drops is minimized. No special preprocessing stage is necessary, and applications have the greatest freedom for c...
متن کاملSubdivision Surface Tesselation on the Fly using a versatile Mesh Data Structure
Subdivision surfaces have become a standard technique for freeform shape modeling. They are intuitive to use and permit designers to flexibly add detail. But with larger control meshes, efficient adaptive rendering techniques are indispensable for interactive visualization and shape modeling. In this paper, we present a realization of tesselation-on-the-fly for Loop subdivision surfaces as part...
متن کاملHierarchical adaptive routing: a framework for fully adaptive and deadlock-free wormhole routing
Adaptive routing can improve network performance and fault-tolerance by providing multiple routing paths. However, the implementation complexity of adaptive routing can be signiicant, discouraging its use in commercial massively parallel systems. In this paper, we introduce Hierarchical Adaptive Routing (HAR), a new adaptive routing framework, which provides a uni-ed framework for simple and hi...
متن کاملA Uni ed Algorithm for Load-balancing Adaptive Scienti c Simulations
Adaptive scienti c simulations require that periodic repartitioning occur dynamically throughout the course of the simulation. The computed repartitionings should minimize both the inter-processor communications incurred during the iterative mesh-based computation and the data redistribution costs required to balance the load. Recently developed schemes for computing repartitionings provide the...
